REAL MADRID: Casillas; Salgado, Roberto Carlos, Hierro, Helguera; Cambiasso (McManaman 75´), Flavio (Ronaldo 52´), Zidane, Figo; Raúl and Guti.
Just look at the quality in this team!
I wondered if there was any additions that should be made to this team to make them world beaters, they are close to being "world beaters" but are missing something.
What do you all think?
Beckham? Henry?

So you're the boss......
What changes would you make?
Figo is a great player 1 penalty miss does not make him "A Joke"

Its obvious that Real needs urgently 4-5 defenders.
I cannot name one good defender from this team.
Figo is playing like a ghost all year long, its not only about the penalty.

The Real Madrid defense is dreadful. Hierro is like a statue. He can't move at all. Roberto Carlos is a fine talent but he constantly gets caught out of position because he pushes too far forward. Even teams with average offenses in the Spanish League are scoring on Real Madrid. There will be changes in the defense.

Luis Figo has had a poor year. He has lost a few steps and disappears altogether in many games. He had no business taking that penalty against Juventus. Everyone including the hot dog vendor knew where he was going with it and he had nothing on it.

They can get whoever they want, but i agree, they play poor defence. You play defence from midfield, with Zidane and Figo to old to run back and forth, it's tough for Makelele and Conceiseio. They need a Roy Keane type of defensive hardman. Gattuso, Vieria, Davids... are all ideal.

Also an addition of Nedved would helps... but most importantly, they need defenders. neither Hierro nor Helguera nor Salgardo nor Carlos are defenders, with lazy Figo on the right not doing sh1t, Salgardo has a lot to do. But Spanish dont produce good defenders, in euro 2000, they played Hierro with Nadal

Real need import, Chivu, Stam, Patrick Anderson, Cannavaro and Nesta are ideal, but only the first two are possible... i cant think of a good young right back right now, which team has a young cafu type defenders? But They still need a right midfield to replace Figo, i dont see Beckham as an ideal replacement, Beckham is 28, poor first touch, poor dribbling, only thing good about him is his exceptional long through balls. Joaquin, and David Bellion are ideal, Pires is also good, but old.

Some good names there Ant but Real have a good right back! 'Bout the only good defender they have!

I don't agree with the respondent who claims they need 4\5 new defenders. Where would they play their unique brand of football, then? Between Casillas and the back 4 perhaps? No.
Real only need one good player to cover for Hierro's lack of pace and that man, in my opinion will be Chivu.

Stam would be too slow to cover the ground that attacking wing backs demand of central defenders. Similarly with the other guys you mention; Anderson, Cannavaro and Nesta are all used to playing in highly structured defences.
It seems to fit badly demanding a defence in Madrid but it's clear they need to stop the other guys when they get the ball but what we talking about here? Lip service -and long may it be so!
